BOONE, Iowa---A funeral service has been set for 95-year old Ralph Ely of Boone, Iowa and the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa. The service will be held Friday, June 18th at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa. Burial will be held at the Peoples Cemetery located northwest of Woodward, Iowa. Full Military Honors will be conducted graveside by the Boone Veterans Council.
Visitation will be held at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone, Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family will be present at the Chapel at that time and will greet friends.
Visitation Friday will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church from 8:30 AM until the time of the service at 10:00.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date.
The Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone are in charge of these arrangements.

BOONE, Iowa---A funeral service has been set for 77-year old Lois Maire Haase of Boone, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 16th at 10:00 AM at the Augustana Lutheran Church at 309 South Greene Street, Boone, Iowa. Her wishes were to be cremated. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at the Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Iowa at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Walter~Schroeder Funeral Home at 5th and Story Streets in Boone, Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family will be present and will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Visitation continues Wednesday at the Augustana Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 10:00 AM.

OGDEN, Iowa---A funeral service has been set for 89-year old Richard "Dick" Phipps of Ogden, Iowa and formerly of Fraser, Iowa. The service will be held Friday, June 11th at 1:00 PM at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa. Burial will be held at the Pilot Mound Cemetery of Pilot Mound, Iowa. Military Honors will be conducted graveside by the Boone Veterans Council.
Visitation will be held at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall Streets in Boone, Thursday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family will be present and will receive friends at the Funeral Chapel, Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Visitation Friday will be held at the Funeral Chapel in the morning from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Visitation will then continue at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, the Iowa Division.

Abatement extension

BOONE, Iowa---Boone Mayor John Slight says he was not supportive of the City Council's decision to grant an extension for a nuisance abatement for property at 801 Jefferson Street. Slight noted that neighbors approached the council requesting action and action was taken. He says the property owner had been dealt with before for similar issues and he felt an extension was not appropriate. Slight says nuisance complaints are among the highest of all complaints received from citizens.
